Bangkok Airways (PG) and EVA Air (BR) jointly signed a code-share agreement for services from Amsterdam, Vienna, London (Heathrow) and Taipei to Thailand's key destinations, Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai, effective in March, 2010.
EVA will operate the international flights and Bangkok Air will handle the domestic service.
For this occasion, Captain Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways, was very positive about this latest cooperation between the two carriers. 'With the strength of Bangkok Airways' feeding network coupled with EVA Air's long-haul expertise, I strongly believe this partnership will benefit Thailand's tourism outlook to a great extent,' Captain Puttipong said.
As soon as the code-share routes are activated, EVA Air passengers traveling to/from Amsterdam, Vienna, London and Taipei will enjoy smooth transit through Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport and onward to Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai within the minimum connecting time of one hour. Bangkok Airways' Boutique Lounge is available to passengers traveling in economy class and the Blue Ribbon Club is designed for those in business class.
Mr. James Jeng, EVA Air's President, said, 'EVA Air flies to more than 40 destinations on four continents and Asia is one of our most important markets. Bangkok Airways, like EVA, has earned numerous awards for its excellent services. Our agreement with this acclaimed airline provides the perfect synergy to give our respective passengers greater peace of mind and a more relaxing travel experience. Our streamlined service is practical and will be welcomed by travelers from the United States, Europe and Taiwan. We expect it to be extremely popular, particularly among leisure travellers looking for fun and relaxation in Thailand's most alluring destinations.'
