According to a report in asiatraveltips.com, Indonesia's national airline, Garuda Indonesia, will increase flights on its Bangkok-Jakarta route from the current thrice-weekly flights to a daily service, effective October 25, 2009. The airline will also increase capacity on the route by 15 per cent. The new frequencies will depart Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport at 14.10 pm and arrive at Soekarna-Hatta Airport in Jakarta at 17.35 pm local time. The return service will take off at 09.40 am and arrive in Bangkok at 13.10 pm. Bambang Sunan, General Manager-Thailand, Myanmar, Laos & Cambodia, Garuda Indonesia said, "We've see an increase in passenger demand from Thailand since we introduced a more convenient day time service earlier in the year. The new schedule will also provide both business and leisure travellers' easy onward connections to other regional cities from Jakarta, as well as domestic destinations." In order to further enhance passenger experience on its new daily service, the airline plans to introduce its new Boeing 737-800NGs on Bangkok-Jakarta flights next year, featuring Garuda Indonesia's new 'Nature's Wing' livery, signature interior and upgraded on-board services. The new Boeing 737-800NG are fitted with individual touch-screen LCD TVs throughout Executive and Economy Classes with Video on Demand (VOD) entertainment systems offering 25 feature films and 250 audio tracks. Garuda Indonesia is introducing more Boeing 737-800NGs, which is part of the plan to double its fleet to 116 aircraft over the next five years. The 737-800NGs are primarily used on short and medium-range services. |
